Intended Audience

TECC teaches First Responders, Ambulance Technicians, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors, how to respond to, and care for, patients in a civilian tactical environment. The course presents the three phases of tactical care:

  • Hot Zone/Direct Threat Care – rendered while under attack or in adverse conditions

  • Warm Zone/Indirect Threat Care – rendered while the threat has been suppressed, but may resurface at any point

  • Cold Zone/Evacuation Care – rendered while the casualty is being evacuated from the incident site replicate real world events and can be adjusted to accomplish specific organisational learning objectives.

NB, due to the above, it is a requirement to have at least one of the following qualifications:

  • FREC 3 or equivalent (i.e. FPOS-I), but ideally FREC 4

  • A recognised Emergency Medical Technician such as FREUC5, L4 AAP, IHCD Ambulance Aid

  • Police Team Medic qualification

  • Combat Medical Technician (if CMT-1 or 2 then must hold current BTLS certification)

  • Relevant professional i.e. paramedic (nurses and doctors must provide evidence of pre-hospital emergency care qualifications and/or experience

Overview

Delivered over 2 consecutive days, but can be split up and taught in non-consecutive days to suit schedules/rotas for groups of 6 or more upon request.

At K2 International all of our medical courses are led only by experienced and currently operational Paramedics, Specialist Paramedics, Advanced Paramedics or Doctors (NB: all our Doctors have evidenced their pre-hospital emergency care and experience prior to employment at K2I). This ensures the highest possible standards of contemporary practice and experience are taught on all our courses only by the most suitably qualified individuals. Our challenging environment course are also taught in tandem with highly experienced survival and field craft experts with operational experience in remote, austere and hostile environments across the world.

Over 2 days, the following skills and knowledge are covered:

  • Advanced management of massive external bleeding

  • Basic, intermediate and advanced airway management (including surgical airway)

  • Basic and advanced management of chest injuries (including needle decompression)

  • Circulatory system assessment and haemorrhage control

  • Shock and fluid replacement (I.V & I.O)

  • Care under fire
